vision culture artist residency

The Vision Culture Artist Residency aims to develop artistic interactions and career through encounter with SE Asia.

The VC Residency is housed in SGFA’s award winning, green building, Gallery Residence, and offers living and separate studio spaces, exhibition space and resource centre.

The VC Residency is for artists with mature art practises, with a specific project proposal, and 6 weeks to spend in residence. The cross-cultural focus of the Residency encourages VC Residents to engage with local artists/audience/curators/artisans, while developing an exhibition to be presented at the Gallery Residence.

The VC Resident is also expected to interact with the local community through workshops and/or lectures. Residents are required to fund their airfare, living costs and other day-to-day expenses.

Vision Culture Artists:

“The Vision Culture Residency is housed in a stunning building (SGFA), towering a residential block with its sober and imposing presence.

The challenges of exhibiting at SGFA, where the horizontal lines dictate the essence of this award winning ‘green’ building – wonderfully influenced my work and prompted me to experiment with an area new to my practice – namely, performance.

The great support SGFA provided, allowed me to deepen my research and facilitated the execution of my project, through connections and networking that was essential to the successful outcome of my residency. The challenges and opportunities the program offered created a very rewarding experience!”

Claudia Cannizzaro, VC Resident.
